Almost There symbolizes a transition—from a persistent feeling of incompleteness, of always being just short of the goal, to accepting that very state of being. The core idea Cem Çatık emphasizes in this album is that the most beautiful moment in art is the act of being “on the road,” and that turning this process into a fulfilling experience is one of the most meaningful parts of artistic creation.

Under the roof of Bubinga Records, Cem Çatık brings to life the collective spirit that has grown within the label. Worked on alongside live performances since January 2023, the album was recorded live at Bubinga Records Studios in Göztepe. The core of the project is a power trio featuring Erkan Sönmez on drums and Halil Çağlar Serin on bass, with guest appearances by Berkan Kaya on keyboards (on three tracks) and Emre Karabulut on guitar (on one track). All six compositions on the album are written by Cem Çatık, except for the title track Almost There, co-written with Erkan and Halil. Çatık took on the recording, mixing, mastering, and production processes himself, collaborating with Adham Farid during the mastering stage. The album’s cover illustration and graphic design were created by Bernardo Anichini.

The focus track Foot Soup is a high-energy instrumental jazz/fusion piece that blends elements of funk, jazz ballad, and progressive rock. The organic feel of the live studio recording, paired with a strong bass riff, a through-composed structure, and improvisational solos, brings a flowing, dynamic quality to the track. The interaction between guitar, synth, and drum solos offers listeners a rich, emotional, and technically compelling journey. The track’s playful title and striking riff were contributed by bassist Erhan Ertetik.

Almost There is more than a musical expression; it offers an honest narrative about acceptance, exploration, and the meaning of staying within the process. With this album, Cem Çatık expands his musical boundaries and invites listeners to join him on the road.

ALBÜM BASIN BÜLTENİ

Bir türlü tamamlanamayan, hep eksik kalan ama “biraz daha çabalarsak ulaşırız” hissiyle süregelen bir ruh hâlinden; bu hâli kabullenmeye geçişi sembolize ediyor Almost There, yani “neredeyse geldik.” Sanatçının bu albümle altını çizdiği düşünce, sanatın en güzel anının “yolda olma hâli” olduğu ve bu süreci keyifli bir deneyime dönüştürmenin, sanatsal üretimin en anlamlı kısmı olduğudur.

Cem Çatık, Bubinga Records çatısı altında oluşan kolektif ruhu bu albümle somutlaştırıyor. 2023 Ocak ayından bu yana sahnelerle eş zamanlı olarak üzerinde çalışılan albüm, Göztepe’deki Bubinga Records stüdyolarında canlı olarak kaydedildi. Davulda Erkan Sönmez, bas gitarda Halil Çağlar Serin ile kurduğu power trio çekirdeğine; üç parçada klavyede Berkan Kaya, bir parçada ise gitarda Emre Karabulut konuk olarak eşlik ediyor. Albümdeki altı parçanın tamamı Cem Çatık’ın bestelerinden oluşurken albümle aynı ismi taşıyan Almost There parçası, Cem, Erkan ve Halil’in ortak imzasını taşıyor. Albümün kayıt, mix, mastering ve prodüksiyon aşamalarını Cem Çatık üstlendi. Mastering aşamasında Adham Farid ile iş birliği yaptı. Albümün kapak illüstrasyonu ve grafik tasarımı ise Bernardo Anichini’ye ait.

Albümün odak parçası Foot Soup; funk, jazz ballad ve progressive rock ögelerini harmanlayan, enerjisi yüksek enstrümantal bir jazz/fusion parçası. Canlı stüdyo kaydının doğallığı, güçlü bas gitar riff’i, through-composed yapısı ve doğaçlama sololarıyla birleşerek parçaya güçlü bir akış kazandırıyor. Gitar, synth ve davul solo bölümleri arasında kurulan etkileşim, dinleyiciyi teknik ve duygusal açıdan zengin bir yolculuğa çıkarıyor. Parçanın eğlenceli ismi ve dikkat çekici riff’i, bas gitarist Erhan Ertetik’in katkısıyla ortaya çıkmış.

Almost There, sadece müzikal bir ifade değil aynı zamanda kabul, arayış ve süreçte kalmanın anlamına dair samimi bir anlatı sunuyor. Cem Çatık, bu albümle müzikal sınırlarını genişletirken dinleyiciyi de onunla birlikte yolda olmaya davet ediyor.
